One of the first questions on a new project is what to build it with. For most businesses the answer is either WordPress or Laravel. Both are excellent, but at different things.
When to choose WordPress
WordPress is a content management system. It is the right call when the site lives on its content: pages, articles, products, services.
- brochure sites for companies
- online stores with WooCommerce
- blogs and news sites
- multilingual sites whose content is edited in-house
When to choose Laravel
Laravel is a framework for web applications. You choose it when the project has business rules of its own that a content platform does not cover naturally.
- portals with accounts and different user roles
- booking or ordering systems with their own logic
- internal tools that replace spreadsheets and manual processes
- platforms that talk heavily to other systems through an API
The right question is not “which technology is better?” but “what, exactly, does my project have to do?”.
Can they be used together?
Yes. A common setup is a brochure site in WordPress, easy for the marketing team to run, alongside a Laravel application for customers, with the two connected through an API.
